ORIGIN & FUNCTIONS


DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS

The Department of Public Works oversees two divisions: Facilities, and Roads.

FACILITIES DIVISION
The Facilities Division originated as the Special Services Division, and adopted its present name in 2013.

Today, the Division maintains County's buildings. It also directs programs for animal control, insect control, noxious weed control, and solid waste and recycling trash disposal.

ROADS DIVISION
The Roads Division builds, maintains, and widens paved roads; surfaces unpaved gravel roads; installs signs and highway markings for safe passage on County roadways; and replaces bridges.
