Besides its traditional museums, the State has museums of living-history, such as Historic St. Mary's City in St. Mary's County, and museums with hands-on exhibits. Others, like Hancock's Resolution in Anne Arundel County, offer special programs outside, often in spring and summer, that highlight early American gardens, Native American folkways, or beekeeping. Many historic houses, gardens, and buildings are open to the public year-round or seasonally.
